Atlanta landscaping and hardscaping that holds up on slopes and red clay

We design and build patios, retaining walls, drainage and planting for homes in intown Atlanta and 16 nearby towns. Every plan starts with how water moves through your yard.

  • The estimate is free. We visit, measure and send a written, itemized quote.
  • Patios go on a compacted gravel base, and every retaining wall gets drainage behind it, so the work holds up on clay.
  • We handle the permits, HOA paperwork and Georgia 811 utility marking.

Building for slopes and clay

Most Atlanta lots slope, and almost all of them sit on red clay. Clay holds water for days after a storm, then bakes hard in August. A patio laid on it without a proper base will heave, and a wall with no drainage behind it will start to lean. Plants put in before the grade is fixed end up with their roots sitting in water.

So a typical project starts with grading and drainage, then the stonework, then planting.

One team from plan to planting

You work with one company for the whole yard: design, permits, stonework, drainage, lighting and plants. You don’t have to coordinate a mason, a landscaper and an irrigation company, or sort out who is responsible when water ends up against the house.

How a project runs

  1. Site visit

We walk the yard with you, check slopes, drainage and access, and measure.

  2. Design and quote

You get a written quote. Larger projects include a scaled plan you can mark up.

  3. Permits and locates

We call Georgia 811 to mark buried utilities and pull any permits your city or HOA needs.

  4. Build

We build to the plan, keep the work area tidy each day, and keep you updated as the work moves along.

  5. Walkthrough

We walk the finished work with you, fix anything on the list, and leave care notes.

Common questions

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We visit the property, measure, and send a written quote at no charge. Call us or use the form below to set up a time.

What areas do you serve?

Intown Atlanta neighborhoods such as Buckhead, Midtown, Virginia-Highland and Grant Park, plus 16 nearby towns including Sandy Springs, Decatur, Marietta, Roswell and Alpharetta. The full list is on our service areas page.

Do I need a permit for a retaining wall in Georgia?

Usually only for taller walls. Georgia’s residential code exempts retaining walls 4 feet tall or less, measured from the bottom of the footing, as long as they don’t hold back extra load like a driveway or a slope above. Some cities add their own rules, and stream buffers apply to walls of any height. We check your city’s rules before we design.

When is the best time to plant in Atlanta?

Fall. Cool air and warm soil let roots settle in before summer heat, so most trees and shrubs do best planted from October through early spring. Warm-season sod such as Bermuda and zoysia goes in best from late spring through summer.

Can you work on steep or wet yards?

Yes. Slopes and drainage problems are most of what we do. Terraced walls, regrading, French drains and dry creek beds can turn a yard you can’t use into one you can.
